Who Can Join the Professional Year Program?

To qualify for the PYP, you must be an international graduate in Accounting, IT, or Engineering from an Australian institution—or, in the case of Engineering, an eligible graduate from an overseas institution holding a recognised visa.

The duration of the course is typically 44 weeks, which includes 12 weeks of internship placement. The specific entry requirements vary slightly depending on your field:

✅ Information Technology (ACS)

• Must have completed an IT degree (Bachelor or Master’s) in Australia

• Hold or have applied for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) with at least 12 months validity

• Meet English proficiency requirements:

  • PTE-A score of 50, with no band below 50

  • Or IELTS score of 6.0, with no band lower than 6.0

  • Or equivalent test scores

✅ Accounting (SMIPA)

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from an Australian institution

• Have a valid or applied Graduate visa (subclass 485) with at least 12 months validity

• English language requirements:

  • PTE-A overall 50, with no band below 50

  • Or IELTS overall 6.0, with no band lower than 6.0

  • Or equivalent

✅ Engineering (EEA)

• Hold a recognized Engineering degree (Bachelor or Master) from Australia

  • OR hold a Skilled – Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) if you studied engineering outside Australia

• Must have an Engineering Skills Assessment outcome from Engineers Australia

• Meet English requirements:

  • PTE-A overall 50, with no band below 36

  • Or IELTS overall 6.0, with no band lower than 5.0

  • Or equivalent
